Open Concept Floor Plans a Trend that Aims to Stay
Tuesday, November 24, 2020 - 16:38
Open concept floor plans are a trend that aims to stay. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, The Spruce states that “an open floor plan in residential architecture refers to a dwelling in which two or more common spaces have been joined to form a larger space by eliminating partition walls.” Bedrooms, offices, and the like are usually still enclosed, but other areas of the home are merged into one large space in an effort to enhance its utility.
Autumn in Florida often requires a willingness to alter your typical idea of the season. Here, if the temperature dips below 85 for at least two consecutive days, we flock to our local meteorologists for an update, while simultaneously unboxing cozy knits, lighting an array of candles, and sipping on pumpkin spice everything. Many of our homeowners will gather around their outdoor fireplace or firepit as the evening air becomes just a bit cooler!
Home is where the heart is, where you lay your hat, and where you rest your feet. Lately home might also be where you work, where your kids learn, or where you've decided to try your hand at recreating vintage macramé plant holders. Ever the multitasker, your house’s most important one is creating an environment that matches your aesthetic.
When planning your custom home’s color palette or adding an accent color to a room in your newly built home, your colors and décor should reflect your vibe.
Bob Dylan sang, “The Times They Are a-Changin'.” It’s doubtful he imagined 2020, but this has certainly been a year charged with change. The call for adjustment and finding a new normal is loud and clear. People are finding themselves with an unexpected amount of time at home, and what can one do when even Netflix is asking, “Do you want to watch this show again?”
Bathrooms are having a moment. Like closets, they are no longer just rooms of utility or an interior design after-thought. Bathrooms are being enlarged and cloaked in luxury, and with good reason – people an average of 416 days of their lives in bathrooms, found a 2019 survey. From getting ready for the day to relaxing in a bubble bath, the bathroom has become a place of refuge.

The Concession, Founders Club, Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club and The Oaks
As master-planned golf communities took off in popularity during the 50s and 60s, and again in the 90s, golf became a way of life for many part- and full-time Floridians who enjoy spending their days on the links. Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch and Bradenton are home to many world-famous golf courses, such as The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch Country Club, The Oaks Club on Sarasota Bay, and The Founders Golf Club in Sarasota.
The tour of the Lakewood Ranch home was complete, and the newly convinced buyers were ready to sit down with builder John Cannon himself and members of his staff to talk about construction at The Lake Club.
