Out of the many festivities to indulge ourselves in this Fourth of July weekend, we were intrigued, moved with compassion, and just plain excited about how life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is encouraged and available this weekend for everyone here in Sarasota. We here at John Cannon Homes have decided to magnetize four extremely diverse opportunities to celebrate independence. We are sure our founding fathers would be proud of our little "big" city!
Let's touch on that American tradition that most of us holds so dear to our hearts. FIREWORKS! Hands down, Sarasota's Bay Front Fireworks Spectacular IS one of the best fireworks displays in Sarasota. Suncoast Charities for Children puts on a spectacular show every year, so head on down to the bay front on the 4th and enjoy the show! It starts around dusk, or 9pm… weather permitting of course, so you will want to get there early to find a great spot.
Saturday, the 5th, there are so many events to choose from! One we are particularly excited about is the 4th annual Shrimp and Lobster Festival happening at the Sarasota Farmers Market from 10am to 2pm. Live music, a raffle drawing, and amazing food… sounds like the perfect holiday Saturday to us!
Something you have probably been wondering is if we were going to mention the Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix. How could we not? Since 1985, Suncoast Charities for Children has been hosting this Offshore Grand Prix in order to benefit the liberty of our very own special needs children and their families. Our hearts overflow with pride and we could not recommend a more patriotic way for you to spend your Sunday than to support families in our own community that inspire us to live to the fullest everyday. If you are looking for something a little more low key this weekend, we recommend checking out The Ringling's Intent to Deceive: Fakes and Forgeries in the Art World exhibit. We are sure you will be astounded at the liberties some of these art forgers have taken over the centuries.
Sarasota is an incredibly vivacious and exuberant city, with many opportunities to exercise ones' unalienable rights. We not only encourage life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ourselves but we also use our liberties to help others in need. Hey, we even recognize the beauty in art forgery!
