Cannon, Neal notch most residential wins
John Cannon Homes won more “best overall” trophies in the single-family home competition in this year’s Parade of Homes of Manatee & Sarasota Counties with five. Five other builders all tied for taking the second most victories with three apiece in the 34 price categories.
The Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association handed out the awards at a ceremony Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota.
Pat Neal’s companies, Neal Communities and Neal Signature Homes, a custom-home builder, earned one and two “best overall” victories, respectively, while Neal Communities added two top trophies in multi-family categories.
Homes by Towne duplicated Neal with three “best overall” wins in single-family homes and two in multi-family.
The other builders with three home victories were Lee Wetherington Homes, London Bay Homes and Arthur Rutenberg Homes-Nelson Homes. Nelson is an independent franchise of Rutenberg Homes.
Meritage Homes and Heritage Builders of West Florida each won two “overall” citations in single-family homes and Minto Communities earned two in multi-family units.
Besides issuing an Overall award, the judges also decide on Best Curb Appeal, Best Kitchen, Best Master Suite, Best Floor Plan and Best Architectural Detail. Twenty homes took all of these in their price categories.
In the developments/communities categories, separated by the number of home sites and multi-family units, Taylor Morrison earned four “best overall” awards out of the nine categories.
In the interior design competition, Builders Design cleaned up with six victories in the seven categories.
In landscaping, two companies split the nine categories. Trent Culleny Landscape Contractor won five and ArtisTree Landscape Maintenance & Design took the other four.
In the 17 pool categories, Coast to Coast Pools won five awards and shared another. Holiday Pools of West Florida also collected five and Waterscapes Pools and Spas earned three.
Categories start with the lowest price point. This year, the MS-BIA also listed the model’s map number so the general public can locate the model easier by referencing the figures in the Parade of Homes magazine or the online map, which can be found at www.paradeofhomesinfo.com. The event continues through March 11, though models will continue to be available for viewing.
