The Concession Golf Course Grand Opening

The area’s newest golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus in association with Tony Jacklin, is scheduled to open January 23. This opening event will be by invitation only.

The special events planed for that day include a Warm-up Clinic, an Exhibition Round of Golf played by Jack Nicklaus, and a Cocktail Reception. The Concession is named after the exemplary sportsmanship displayed by Jack Nicklaus at the 1969 Ryder Cup at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England when he conceded a two-foot putt to Tony Jacklin that resulted in a tied match between the European and American teams. The Americans still retained the Ryder Cup trophy, but the act of sportsmanship earned its place in sports history.

The 18-hole championship golf course at The Concession Golf Club will be the focal point of the Club and the Community. Tee placements are designed to challenge the low-handicapper while creating an enjoyable golf experience for players at all levels. Located within 520 segregated acres, this course will be a rarity. As a “core” golf course, with minimal housing even visible from the course, the member will be able to enjoy the golfing experience in a pristine Florida environment without the distractions of residences lining the course.

The Concession Golf Club will offer an expansive practice facility including driving range, practice chipping area, and putting green and will be located adjacent to the clubhouse.
The golf orientated Clubhouse, the social center for the Club, will feature casual dining, spacious verandahs, and guest suites, along with the traditional golf pro shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms, card room, and billiard room traditional clubhouse.

The Director of Golf is Jimmy Wright and the Head Professional is Gary Geiger.

The Concession is a new $600 million, 1,232-acre, luxury, gated, estate, golf course community located near the Sarasota/Manatee County line on Florida’s west coast. The ambiance of the entire area is unforgettable with an abundance of wildlife seldom found in this part of South Florida…from wild turkeys to deer.
