$8 million buys phase two of The Concession

MANATEE COUNTY - Amid a rebound of luxury home sales in Southwest Florida, a local investment group has spent just under $8 million to take control of vacant land planned as a second phase to the tony Concession golf course community east of Lakewood Ranch.

Buyer Concession 113 LLC is headed by Vanguard Land Co. founder John Peshkin and also includes Kevin Daves, Concession's developer.

ROSEDALE — An expansion to the Rosedale community has begun quietly.

The Hunt Group’s Newton Development, which developed the original roughly 650-home community off State Road 70, just east of I-75, is nearing the start of construction for Rosedale Links, with three model homes already built.
Home sales for Rosedale Links are expected to begin sometime in November, when the models open.

Nothing speaks to the health of the home-building industry like a few mounds of dirt.

LAKEWOOD RANCH - John Cannon Homes, one of the region's largest custom home builders, says it posted a 67 percent gain in home sales during 2011.

The Lakewood Ranch-based builder also said it has seen a resurgence in interest for homes of larger than 4,000 square feet, a sales point that had been suppressed by the Great Recession.

Cannon sold 62 homes last year, up from 37 in 2010, with prices ranging from $300,000 to $2.5 million.
