JOHN CANNON, LEED ACCREDITATION

John Cannon, President of John Cannon Homes, Inc. has been designated a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) by the Green Building Certification Institute. According to the USGBC website, John Cannon joins only three, including one other John Cannon employee, builders who have obtained this accreditation in Sarasota to date. Since going "Green" over a year ago, John Cannon Homes, Inc. has built or has currently under construction 43 homes that have been certified Green by The Florida Green Building Coalition.

"This accreditation allows me to further understand the Green building process and to implement this with all of the residential and commercial structures we build. I believe in making the world a better place for us and for future inhabitants. I also believe that when building custom homes and commercial buildings it's not necessary to compromise your Green living choices," said Cannon. "Green building provides opportunities to integrate these issues into truly good design. Our vision is to play a part in this process, helping to create resource and energy efficient homes and buildings that are healthy and cost less to operate", he added.

LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED Green Building Rating System, and the certification process. The LEED AP program is administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), which was established with the support of USGBC to allow for objective, balanced management of the credentialing program.
LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: Site Planning, Water Management, Energy Management, Material Use, Indoor Air Quality and Innovation & Design Process. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) developed the (LEED) Green Building Rating System as a national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes individuals with detailed knowledge of project certification requirements and processes and a command of integrated design principles. LEED accreditation is awarded to building industry professionals who successfully demonstrate these proficiencies by passing a comprehensive exam.
